Soothing Muscle Rub

Whether you're a gym rat or you do anything to stay away from the gym, we all get sore muscles and joints sometimes. This blend of oils is fantastic for any adult! I love to make a muscle rub to keep on hand and just use as needed.

Whipped Muscle Rub Recipe:

  • 1/2 cup shea butter

  • 1/4 cup coconut oil

  • 1/4 cup olive or almond oil

  • 10 drops Panaway essential oil

  • 10 drops Peppermint essential oil

  • 10 drops Copaiba essential oil

  • **This is a good starting point, feel free to adjust the oils- add more or less if you'd like.


Instructions

Combine all the ingredients in a double boiler or small saucepan over medium heat.

Heat until everything is melted.

Pour into another bowl and let cool for a good hour (in the fridge if you're in a hurry), or until the oils are just starting to consider re-solidifying (this is important - you won't be able to whip it up if they're still too liquid).

When the oil mixture is starting to solidify around the edges, start beating with a hand mixer. Continue for a few more minutes, or until it looks sort of like whipped cream, forming stiff peaks.

Transfer to a jar or other storage. (I like the 4 oz wide mouth mason jars.)


If you don't want to make the whipped muscle rub, you can add 5 drops of each essential oil to a 10 mL roller bottle and top with your choice of carrier oil. Roll on desired area and rub in as needed.
